FIRST THINGS FIRST! … if you are looking to change your cookie consents for this website go to the ‘Privacy and cookie settings’ link at the very very very bottom of this page.
So, our basic ‘privacy policy’ is that we are fanatical about privacy. That’s about it really. We don’t want to know a single thing about you! … in the nicest way possible of course.
Let us set the scene.
We don’t have user accounts.
We don’t require passwords or logins.
We don’t require any personal information for any part of this website.
We don’t create lists of email addresses for mailshots, updates and newsletters.
We don’t process payments.
We might do Twitter one day.
If you choose to email us then (all of a sudden and no fault of our own!) we’ll have your email address and any other personal data that you may have sent. However we don’t keep emails a nanosecond longer than is absolutely strictly necessary … reply … whooosh! … bin … gone! We would NEVER EVER NOT IN A MONTH OF SUNDAYS pass on your email address (or any personal data contained therein) to anybody else unless required to do so by law. And even then we might put up a fight depending on how tough they looked.
Cookies
Here in the UK our Information Commissioner describes cookies as ” …a small file of letters and numbers that is downloaded on to your computer when you visit a website. Cookies are used by many websites and can do a number of things e.g. remembering your preferences, recording what you have put in your shopping basket, and counting the number of people looking at a website.”
We’ve no inclination to create cookies and shove them in your browser however we do use products that produce a cookie or three e.g. Google Adsense (including their advertising partners), Google Analytics and WordPress. We only use Google Adsense to place adverts on our site; those ads are important to us and provide a nominal income and some spare change to help feed the cats. We also use Google Analytics to help us learn about our audience and what they like (and don’t like) about us. To comply with GDPR and various other laws and regulations we use a cookie consent solution provided by Google Asdsense … so when you visit our site you’re asked if you ‘Consent’ or ‘Do not consent’ to us using your personal data for personalising adverts, providing statistics, etc, etc. If you don’t consent we only serve essential cookies without which the website would crash and burn.
So, that’s about it for cookies. Your next job is to have a right proper read of How Google Uses Information from Sites or Apps that use their Services because we have an obligation to advise you how Google uses personal data in accordance with their EU User Consent Policy. After that, while you’re still in the zone check out how you can Control Google’s Advertising Cookies.
Please also accept as a gift from us a link to Google’s Privacy Policy.
OTHER PRIVACY MATTERS
We provide links to other websites. If you click on those links you will be taken to websites that are 100% totally completely entirely out of our control. Their Privacy Policy may be entirely different to ours or – even worse – they may not have one; yes, you heard it, there’s a chance that they may not have given your privacy a moment’s thought! So, always proceed with caution wherever you may find yourself on the Wonderful World Wide Web. Always make sure your software is up to date (especially browsers) and make sure you have an anti-virus and anti-spam/spyware/scumware that automatically update and provide real-time protection.
Do not give out your e-mail address or any personal details unless you are 110% confident it will be kept secure and not misused.
Finally, please contact us if you believe that this site contravenes this Privacy Policy. We’d be gutted! … but we’ll also put it right immediately.
